There is NO super human, please! No body is the *best* ever!

News: Sheikh mujib, the best ever Bengali !

To decide the greatest Bengali/Human/British/Arab/whatever ever a few concerns which definitely have greatly influenced the result.

1. Firstly, the judgments were done with a voting poll, which had hardly any standard or ruling over the voice. The influences of personal views have perhaps often over ruled the main objective of the selection.

2. Selecting Ziaur Rahman and Sheikh Mujib among the best 20 clearly depicts the fact of the voters political stance. I am sure there were a few votes for Khaleda, Hasina, Nijami or Ershad and so on. The problem with selecting political person is as each person has many admirers, so is there are many people against them.

3. There was a clear influence of religion in selecting people from own religious group. I would not dig deep into this topic.

4. The influence of time played a very important role too. The people who were selecting, were more acknowledged of the people from their time. Most of the selected intellectuals have been belonged to 1900 century. Also, we are very much ignorant about many intellectuals. Were there some votes for Aroj Ali Matubbor? Answer is perhaps No, how many people know his name at all!

5. The idea of selecting so called *best ever* by BBC has found tyrants and saboteurs like Saddam and Osama as best ever from the Arabs; also selection of Diana as 3rd best British only points public emotion into this referendum.

6. A person should not be considered as a best ever; because at the end, He/She is a human being (and to err is human). For example, Sheikh Mujib failed to keep his impression when he uphold the jurisdiction after the war. His political achievement should not be dismantled from his failures, but selecting a single person as *best ever* only shows us that we human beings actually love to see some super human and would like to worship them (means when we say somebody is best, then we do not find any faults in his/her deeds anymore. The admirers of that person start to believe that whatever He/She did was perfect). Thats is how the Prophets (also some Politicians, Scientists and Novelists etc) are being worshiped by a group of people for many thousand years. In addition, we always forget that they all are still just simple human beings like us, and they all made mistakes, as we all do.

7. A persons work and life is being influenced by the time-period where he belonged. Each selected person is the gem of his/her own time. Now judging them with a ranking hardly makes a sense because their working fields were completely different and they all had their own circumstances and consequences. Not a single person from the list can be replaced with another to get the same yield as the original person had done. Neither Rabindranath could hold a speech like Sheikh Mujib, nor Mujib would ever could write a noble prize winning literary work.

They is no *super human*, although they are superior and praiseworthy.

Regards,

Adnan
