Dear Mukto-monas,

Today (16. 01. 05) I spend the evening with the family members of late Dr. Humayun Azad. We talked over many aspects of Azad. The foundation project has been launched with the formation of a committee known as Humayun Azad Foundation committee with Mrs. Latifa Khan, wife of Dr Azad as its convener. The committee is contemplating, as told by Mouli and her mother Mrs. Azad, to introduce one or two scholarships for poor but meritorious students reading in Sir Jagadish Chandra High School at Rarikhal, the village of late Dr. Azad plus some other plans including establishing a library in his village home.

They are also contemplating to hold a literary discussion meeting on the first death anniversary of Dr. Azad. I listened quietly their enthusiastic plans, but pointed out that whatever you do, do it through the foundation committee, when it has come into existence. I assured my continued moral and material support. Mouli is very proud of his father, and trying hard to do something in memory to his father.

I took this opportunity to hand over a cheque of sum of Tk 50,000/- to Mrs. Azad as a token of love and sympathy to the family as small contribution to Azad Foundation on behalf of Mukto-mona. I am glad to report that we are the first organization to make such gesture. I assured them that another Tk 10,000/- would be made available as soon as work of the foundation begins.

So out of Tk 60,000/- that you send to me, I handed over Tk 50,000/- to the fund. The rest Tk 10,000 is now lying with me. Kindly see attached receipt from Mrs. Azad:

Mouli has joined very recently the Stanford University as an Administrator. She showed me her articles written on her father and published in some local journals. I will send one or two soon to the MM website.

I took leave of the family at about 8-45 p.m. with pleasant feelings.
