The "news item" was published in World Net Daily. We don't have any other corroborating evidence that the Saudi Sheikh in fact said what is reported in the item. If you browse around World Net you will find that it is a conservative newspaper which features authors like Ann Coulter (remember, after 9-11, Ann coulter called for invasion and occupation of Afghanistan and conversion of all inhabitants to Christianity). The "news" from such a source requires corroboration.
For the time being let us assume that the Sheikh had indeed said what he is reported to have said. Does that mean that every other Muslim holds the same opinion. As a living religion Islam is interpreted in many different ways by people who believe in it. Some of those interpretations (like those by Taliban) are indeed incompatible with co existence with others of different views. Other interpretations are not.
I am not a Muslim. I am an agnostic. I was not even born in a Muslim family. A large part of the current so called criticism against Islam and Muslims are in fact racist propaganda. Racist propaganda should be opposed and that's what prompts me to write.
If we look at the actual historical record, the justification for the North american genocide was provided by a section of Christian theological explanation ( remember the Requiremento read out by Spanish conquistadores) and European/American intellectual tradition (remember manifest destiny). The world will not be safer under any religion and certainly will not be safer under the US imperial flag. Interested readers might like to read A clash of fundamentalisms by Tariq Ali.
With best wishes.
