Shah Abdul Hannan

Born in 1939 in the city of Mymensingh, Mr. Shah Abdul Hannan completed his Masters in Political Science in 1961 and held charges of Social welfare Ministry, Banking Division and Internal Resource Division of the government of Bangladesh. He was involved with establishing the first Islamic bank in Bangladesh and was the Chairman of Islamic Economic Research Bureau, Director of the Islamic Bank Bangladesh Ltd. and adviser to Bangladesh Institute of Islamic Thought (BIIT).

He taught Islamic ethics and Islamic political thought in Asian University of Bangladesh. He was also involved in planning Islamic University Chittagong and member of the advisory committee there. He is also member of the Darul Ihsan trust which founded Darul Ihsan University. He is now the Chief of Dhaka Campus of Islamic University, Chittagong in Bangladesh.

He worked with a group of Islamic scholars to produce two volumes of "Economics in Al-Quran" and three volumes on "Codified Islamic Law" in Bengali (together, the volumes have a thousand section and cover all aspects of Islamic law). Hasan Mahmud (fatemolla)

Hasan Mahmud is a Bangladeshi-Canadian and is the Director of Sharia the Islamic Law of Muslim Canadian Congress. He promotes the inbuilt Human Rights in Islam in his regular speeches in European, Canadian and US conferences and Medias. He argues with documents and case-studies that the spirit and some of Sharia laws are severely anti-women and anti-Quranic. He stresses Muslim leaders to update the laws to suit present need of world-Muslims ensuring human rights.

 

On this context he authored (1) Bangla book ISLAM O SHARIA, (2) Debate-DVD with an Al Azahary scholar, (3) Discussion DVD on Murtad issue,  (4) �Silent genocide� a Sharia docu-movie, (5) �Bibidh Bidhan� a Sharia docu-drama, and (6) hundreds of articles. He played a central role against the Canadian Sharia Court that had been working for 15 years with the blessing of Canadian law since 1991.
