Unmasking Biplab Pal and his pathological psyche

(Note to the readers: The following rebuttal may appear uninteresting to some readers. Some may think, its merely a waste of time and serves no good purpose. Admittedly, I am not fond of this kind of rebuttals myself, as I was years ago. Yet I think, this was needed. It may not help establish my credentials as a serious writer but Id be happy, at least, if it helps readers identify some of those human weds on the net whose only criterion, sadly, to determine someones credibility as a honest thinker/writer is rooted simply in opposition to everything associated with Muslims/Islam and at times, blind obedience to the West. They are shrewd and try to easily dismiss you as one sympathetic to Islam or Communism (on a personal note, I have not been associated with any political party whatsoever, or its ideology in my life so far, and Im an agnostic in my stance on religions) whenever you protest such idiosyncrasy. They prevail on and outside the net at a time when chances are high that they can easily masquerade themselves as a liberal thinker/activist when indeed sometimes they are more dangerous than a religious zealot. They wear mask and thus are in the need to be unmasked by all honest humanists/liberals thinkers. Thanks. J.A.)

"Any time it wishes so, US can teach a stern lesson to countries like Sudan, Libya. Our [Indian] impotent politicians have never managed to learn it from the US.

"Only verbal threats won't work. It's essential to attack anti-India terrorist camps in Bangladesh & Pakistan by missiles and air strikes. In this, world opinion will be by India's side as common people--fed up by terror-- don't respect humanists- another impotent ally of the terrorism."

-Translated from Biplab Pals Bangla article on Mumbai train blast*

My open response:

Dear Biplab Pal:

Youve accused me of lying because you think you have criticized Hindu fundamentalists and their killing of poor Muslims in the said article and attacking Bangladesh and extremist terror camps inside Bangladesh is not same thing.

So dropping missiles and bombs in Bangladesh, an independent and sovereign country, is the best option which came out of your (un)productive mind and it won't kill poor people? And you dont give a damn to the opinion of 140 millions Bangladeshis about such foreign incursion? We know- as of now, at least three terrorists involved in the Mumbai train blast come from Bihar, India. Would you prescribe same stupid and insane remedy to your own Indian govt. i.e. to bomb Bihar? Or consider Indian Express report of 22 July 2006, which says terror groups operating in Nepal is also involved in the train blast. Do you ask India to bomb Nepal as well alongside Bangladesh & Pakistan? So according to you, any country may bomb its neighbor, if it suspects the neighboring country is harboring rebels against it since US did so with success (!)? Likewise, Britain can bomb Ireland, China can bomb Taiwan and so on?

Biplab, you said while criticizing Jamimul Bashar he [Jahed] never mentioned Jamimul attacked me because I wrote against the people who look for science in religious books-my article was directed against all the religions equally. Frankly, I dont care what Bashar says about you. I rebutted his nonsense because I found his views parochial and unscientific. Honestly speaking, I wouldnt have acted otherwise if such nonsense was written even by my best friend. Those who know me know it well.

You claim to have taken maximum blow against Hindu fundamentalists in Mukto-mona forum.  Is it because you first wanted to establish some credibility in readers mind before speaking of your real mindset as its exposed now- a ultra nationalist jingoist view where public opinions hardly matter? Dont you know- sometimes an unmasked Hindu/Muslim fanatic is less dangerous than a fascist masquerading as an atheist or a scientific spiritualist?

You said: I agree Iraq was not involved in terrorism-it was a tactical mistake, but it did send a message that US could depose any Government at his will. The message itself is acting as a deterrent for USA. So similarly, you want India to send the message that it could depose any Government at his will? But dont you know in this case, your model country US spared Saudi Kingdom, the real sponsor of Islamic terror, and yet it could reduce no. of 9/11 like events in its soil as you claimed when you said How many terror attacks we have in USA after 9/11? None, while during the same time Indians suffer at least five major terrorist attack. This is because India didn't attack sponsors of terrorism inside Bangladeshi and Pakisthani Govt. where as USA did attack Afganisthan & Iraq and showed that sponsors of terror on US soil will face the consequence [ Though].)

So, dear man of scientific spirituality, how do you decide whats scientific for India?

On one hand, your religion is discovery of truth and on the other hand, you said you do not believe in religions etc. Well, as far as your commitment to truth is concerned, we can see, probably thats why at vinnomot website one of your passions is experimenting with nudity. Is it because you want to discover more truths about human anatomy? Thats been already done, my friend.

Biplab, you think I dont have any moral right to speak against bombing of Islamist camps unless I decide to leave US and I can not continue to enjoy sweet fruit of freedom guaranteed to me by aggressive US foreign policy and at the same time criticize it to prove myself a humanist. This is a sheer double standard.

So the litmus test for the extent of my gratitude toward US would have to be based on the criterion that Biplab Pal, an ultra nationalist Indian, is describing? Sorry, I dont buy it.

Do you have even the slightest of idea about the ideals that the very founders of US advocated so passionately? Its, indeed- tolerance, rationalism and secularism. At least thats what my understanding is every time I read Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, James Madison and Ben Franklin et al. It seems Biplab Pal of India knows more about American values than Americas own founding fathers? Or is it what youre talking about Indianized version of American values?

When I protest or raise my voice against a particular US foreign policy, its only when I know its contradicting American people and their values such as freedom, truth and justice for all  and when such policy is betraying the very ideals of Americas founding fathers. For a very similar reason, many even American intellectuals of the past and present criticized many of Americas foreign and social policies. Take todays Jimmy Carter, Paul Kurtz, Howard Zinn, or Martin Luther King, Jr., Allen Ginsberg of the recent past. Are/were they all pro-Islamic and leftists? What about Nelson Mandelas acrid criticism of UK/US aggression in Iraq? Remember, were talking about a man who was tortured by the white supremacist regime for 27 long years.  What would have happened if Biplab Pal had to undergo same situation, I wonder? Even to speculate, I feel scared.

Biplab Pal, do you want me to be a boot licker of US govt. just because I have chosen to live here? Do it yourself as long as you wish to, but please, dont prescribe it to others.

You have called Indian politicians impotent (hijra as you wrote in Bangla) since they failed (?) to bomb terrorist camps in Bangladesh. Im simply curious, what potency, in general, means to you (I mean,

intellectual potency)? Once you bragged you wanted to change vinnomot and give it such a shape that all expatriate Bangalees in US (both from India/BD) could enjoy reading it since you thought all other Bangla newspapers published from the USA are trash. At last youve come up with a format (Ive read a couple of your hard prints as well) that says in its titles the only Bangla entertainment newspaper published from the worlds leading entertainment center Hollywood. Vinnomot under you is covering news on Hindi film heroine Ash Rai, Bangla porno stars alongside publishing translation of Quran and the ad of halal meat grocery shops in Los Angeles! Is it your concept of potency? If so, Indian politicians must take pride in your comments!

Lastly, in a comparison with mukto-mona once you described vinnomot as a fish-market. What would it be, if youre to describe honestly the present vinnomot under you? Would it be, Sonagachhi of Kolkata on the web, I wonder?

Jahed Ahmed
